Vincent Miller, MD
Dr. Miller is the President and Founder of Anesthesia Associates of Vermont.
He has been a board-certified anesthesiologist since 2008 with extensive experience caring for critically ill patients having heart or lung surgery (cardiothoracic subspecialty) and regional anesthesia (nerve blocks). He was the medical director of a simulation laboratory for several years and focused on educating future physicians in crisis management and hospital-wide patient safety initiatives. He has published peer-reviewed scientific articles focusing on airway management during cardiac arrest and reducing infections while placing central lines, resulting in improved patient outcomes. His teaching and research achievements lead to him being promoted to Associate Professor.
After nearly two decades practicing in an academic and level-one trauma center, he transitioned to the outpatient setting. He has been working in ambulatory surgery since 2021 and enjoys the change. The diverse experience has molded Dr. Miller into a well-rounded and highly skilled physician. He enjoys taking care of patients in any clinical setting, finding joy in improving their comfort and putting them at ease during a stressful experience.
Dr. Miller has four children, a loving partner, and an occasionally well-behaved cockapoo. He enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, reading, learning and spending time with family and friends.

Pete Spitellie, MD
Dr. Spitellie went to medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he also completed his residency in anesthesia and became board certified in anesthesiology in 2000. After starting in private practice, he returned to academics as an assistant professor at a level 1 trauma center at the same university. He further specialized in ophthalmology by completing a second residency at the University of Washington and an oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Spitellie has practiced in both specialties, and before joining Anesthesia Associates of Vermont was the lead anesthesiologist at The Eye Surgery Center in South Burlington. He is on the board of directors of the Ophthalmic Anesthesia Society and a member the American Society of Anesthesiology. In addition to presenting at multiple national and international meetings he has volunteered with the Himalayan Cataract Project in Ethiopia and Rwanda.
Dr. Spitellie enjoys spending time with his wife of 25 years and his 3 children. He loves cooking, trying new restaurants, music and being in the outdoors…. chasing his children.

Esther Caballero-Manrique, MD
Dr. Caballero-Manrique is a board-certified anesthesiologist specialized in pain medicine. She trained at UVM (Pain Medicine fellowship and Anesthesia residency) and went to medical school at the University of Rochester in NY. She has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Oregon. Before medicine, she taught chemistry and conducted research in computational biology. She was an attending anesthesiologist at UVM before branching off and co-founding Interventional Spine of Vermont (now closed). She has been working as an independent anesthesiologist since 2021. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and has presented at multiple national anesthesia meetings.
When not at work, she can be found training for ironman races and spending time with her family (sometimes at the same time).

Scott McQuilkin, DO
Dr. McQuilkin is a board-certified anesthesiologist specializing in cardiothoracic anesthesiology. He has Bachelor of Sciences in molecular biology and physician assistant studies, a Masters of Health Professions Education, and a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. His diverse employment history includes being an urban and wilderness paramedic, NOLS instructor and alpine ski patroller, wilderness medicine educator as well as physician assistant. Dr. McQuilkin completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Vermont where he was a chief resident, then attended his Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship at Duke University. He has been employed as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist in both private practice and academic settings and has numerous education awards including resident educator of the year (twice) and educator of the year in the UVM department of Anesthesiology. He is also recognized nationally as a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiology as well as Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. McQuilkin enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter on their farm in the heart of the Green Mountains, where he is able to pursue his passions of mountain biking, backcountry skiing and automotive performance restoration

Corey Sheahan, MD
Dr. Sheahan is a board-certified anesthesiologist with a specialization in pain medicine. He is a native Vermonter originally born in Burlington. He completed his medical school education, anesthesia residency and pain medicine fellowship all at the University of Vermont. He previously practiced at UVMMC providing operating room anesthesia and interventional pain procedures. As an assistant professor, his primary academic role was in the clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows.
Dr. Sheahan enjoys spending time with his wife and three children in his free time. He loves skiing, biking, hiking, running and traveling.
